US wants to tear off a piece from Syria: Russia

RUSSIA – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in an interview with Euronews, said that the United States wants to remain permanently in Syria, tearing away part of its territory from the state on the pretext of protecting the Kurds.

The Russian Foreign Minister noted that the American units in Syria are on an illegal basis, without the consent of the government of the Syrian Arab Republic, and without any permission from the UN Security Council.

Sergei Lavrov also said that the US in Syria is repeating the same actions that were committed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“They have been consistently for probably two or three years – almost the entire period that the coalition led by Washington works in Syria – the period during which US special forces and other units are in Syria on the ground illegally without any invitation from Damascus, a legitimate government, without any UN Security Council mandate, it’s clear that the US has some sort of strategy, the strategy that probably is to permanently settle in Syria with its armed forces. now hot t do the same in Iraq and Afghanistan – in spite of all let’s earlier promises and settle forever in Syria…

By the way, they are leading the way to isolating a huge piece of Syrian territory from the rest of the country in violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, creating there some quasi local authorities, trying in every possible way to create there some kind of autonomous entity, again on the Kurds.”
