Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said, the Iranian people are free to express criticism, but we have to pay attention to how it is.
Iranian President said in his first comment on the protests in Iran four days ago that the Iranian people had the right to demonstrate and criticize without departing from the legal framework.
Rowhani said in a speech during a cabinet session on the backdrop of continued demonstrations in the country that the Iranian government welcomes the criticisms against it, stressing that the organs of state authorities should allow the Iranians to demonstrate and gatherings to express their demands, and this is their right.
“It should be clear to all that our people are free and entitled according to the constitution and the rights of citizenship, criticism and even protest, but at the same time we should know that the method of criticism and protest should ultimately lead to the improvement of the country’s conditions and the livelihood of the people.”
