Yemeni army controls villages and valleys in Houthi strongholds of Saada

UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The Yemeni army announced on Sunday the control of its forces on villages and valleys in the strongholds of al-Houthi, Saada province, north of the country, after fierce fighting between the parties.

The site of the Yemeni army, “September Net”, that the control of the villages of Jalah, Dahl, Salva, Wadi al-Aslan Jahla and Wadi al-Mbtah, the last strongholds of the Houthis in the Directorate of Bacem.

He added that this progress, came through a large-scale military operation carried out this morning, with the support of the Arab coalition forces.

In conjunction with field battles, coalition and Apache fighter jets launched intensive raids on Houthi strongholds and reinforcements on the same front, the source said.

The site pointed out that the battles and raids coalition, led to the killing of more than 20 Huthi gunmen and wounded dozens of them.

He explained that among the dead Houthis, two leaders are Musharraf Square square, and the director of Asil Al-Khulani and Abu Radwan Al-Moayad.

There was no comment from the Houthis about what the Yemeni army said.

The importance of Saada province, as the main stronghold in which the Houthi group, and the supposed residence of its leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi, as well as adjacent to the southern Saudi border.

For nearly four years, Yemen has been waging a war between pro-government forces and Houthi militants accused of receiving Iranian support and controlling the provinces, including the capital Sanaa since September 2014.

Since March 2015, an Arab military alliance led by Saudi Arabia has supported government forces in the face of the Houthis in a war that has left a severe humanitarian crisis, the worst in the world, according to a former UN report.
