A Taliban suicide attack on Afghan forces has left 140 people dead in the worst incident to Afghan military personnel since 2001.

The attackers were grounded by military vehicles after being dressed as soldiers and attacking the command of the 209 Afghan Army Corps in Mazar-i-Sharif, capital of Balk province.
Local media cite security officials that besides 140 killed soldiers there are at least 100 others injured.
According to the witnesses, the perpetrators fired bullets in the direction of the soldiers when they were leaving the mosque last night after prayers, while another extremist group attacked the menace, before the soldiers responded with fire by eliminating some of them, while the other attackers threw themselves In the wind.
The Taliban immediately assumed responsibility for the attack.
