UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The US military has accused a Venezuelan fighter of tracking a US-made TB-3 Ares 2 aircraft and “aggressively” over international airspace in a confrontation between the two planes last Friday.
The US military said in a statement on Sunday that it had concluded that the Russian-made Russian fighter had aggressively tracked a US Navy aircraft at an unsafe distance in the international airspace for a long time, endangering the safety of the crew and the mission of the aircraft.
“The Maduro government continues to undermine internationally recognized laws and shows contempt for international conventions that allow the United States and other countries to fly safely in international airspace.”
US President Donald Trump’s administration has repeatedly used sanctions to try to topple Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, and the United States and most Western nations have re-elected in 2018 as “illegal.”
Maduro still enjoys the support of the armed forces and other institutions in Venezuela.
