UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The US Department of Transport has announced a suspension of air traffic between the United States and Venezuela, prompting its decision by instability in the region in recent times.

The United States made the decision to stop air traffic with Venezuela . On May 15, the Department of Transport issued an order to suspend all passenger and cargo flights between the two countries.

In a letter to the Ministry of Transport calling for the suspension, the US Department of Homeland Security cited reasons such as conditions in the Latin American country that “endanger the safety of passengers, planes and crews going there”.

“I agree that public interests require an immediate suspension of air traffic between the US and Venezuela airports. Therefore, in accordance with Article 44907 (e), I suspend the right of all US and foreign air carriers to provide air navigation to and from Venezuelan airports,” said the Secretary of Transport of the United States.

The suspension is in addition to the Federal Aviation Administration’s May 1 note, which bars the majority of operators and certified pilots in the United States from flying less than 26,000 feet (7,925 meters) above Venezuelan territory.

The protests have been going on for several months in Venezuela, facing a serious economic crisis accompanied by political tensions. On April 30, opponent Juan Guaido, recognized as “Acting President” by some fifty countries including the United States, intervened in front of his supporters gathered outside La Carlota air base, announcing the beginning of the “final end of the usurpation” and calling to join the demonstrators in their fight against the government in place.

Nicolas Maduro then announced the failure of the coup d’etat and said he had ordered an investigation into this attempt and that several suspected coup leaders were already interrogated. He added that all those who took up arms to overthrow the power would be found and judged.
