The United States accused Russia and China of not complying with the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
This reproach is contained in the annual report of the office of the US Trade Representative.
The document says that the Russian Federation and the PRC do not conduct market-oriented economic policies supported by the WTO, and do not respect certain key promises that were made when they joined the trade organization.
RIA clarifies the essence of the claims. So, in the US they are unhappy with the fact that virtually all American agricultural products are banned in Russia and this is called voluntaristic border measures.
In response to the dissatisfaction of the US, the Duma Communists invited the Russian government to denounce the protocol on Russia’s accession to the WTO. According to members of the Communist Party faction in the State Duma, the rules of the World Trade Organization harm Russia.
Thus, the equalization of tariffs for the services of natural monopolies to the level of other members of the WTO entailed an increase in tariffs for fuel and utilities in Russia, led to their subsidies and an increase in direct charges and indirect taxes.
State Duma deputies noted that for the last 5 years, Russia’s estimated losses from the WTO are 871.3 billion rubles, while there are no obvious benefits.
