Warsaw refuses to rally anti-Iran coalition

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The Polish Prime Minister announced that his country would not join the US maritime coalition to escort ships in the Persian Gulf. He stressed that Poland’s position in this regard had been misinterpreted.

He admitted that Poland had started negotiations on this issue but had never agreed to cooperate with US forces to conduct naval operations in the Persian Gulf.

The Polish Foreign Minister had recently said that support for American and British efforts in the region was possible without giving further details.

The German government has also refused US demand to join the US anti-Iran coalition, saying it would not support the Trump administration’s maximum pressure campaign against Iran.

So far, among the EU Member States, only the United Kingdom has indicated its willingness to support the United States in their maritime operations in the Persian Gulf and has sent two warships into the Strait of Armenia. Hormuz to escort British merchant ships.
