Volcano in Kamchatka threw ash column at a height of up to 9 km above sea level

Located in the north of Kamchatka, the Shiveluch volcano threw a column of ash at a height of up to 9 km above sea level, and the ashes were 10 km northeastward.

This is reported by the regional group for reacting to volcanic eruptions (KVERT) of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to the Kamchatka department of the Ministry of Emergencies, there were no reports of ash falls in populated areas.

The height of Shiveluch is about 3.3 km above sea level. Thus, the height of the ash column emitted by the volcano is up to 6 km.
