US Vice President Mike Pence arrived in Israel, grateful to the US administration for the recognition of the capital status of Jerusalem.
At the final and longest stage of his Middle East tour, Pence will hold talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin, speak in Parliament, visit the Wailing Wall and the Holocaust Memorial Yad Vashem.
Israeli television channels broadcast live from the Tel-Aviv airport of David Ben-Gurion, where Pence flew in a military transport plane. To meet the high guest was entrusted to Minister of Tourism Yariv Levine.
The Israeli police have already blocked the motorways, along which his motorcade will move to Jerusalem.
Pence’s visit will take place without a visit to the Palestinians, who, in protest against ignoring their claims to the eastern part of Jerusalem, announced the renunciation of American mediation in the settlement of the conflict with Israel.
In Israel, the vice president will stay until Tuesday. He previously visited Egypt and Jordan.
