US stocks open steady as growth fears persist

UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — US stocks opened steady on Thursday on recent gains as appetite for risk has been negatively affected by the absence of new developments in trade talks with China and concerns about global economic growth.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was down 4.71 points, or 0.02 percent, at 26,213.42.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index <.SPX> was up 0.59 points, or 0.02 percent, at 28,73.99.

The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 1.30 points, or 0.02 percent, to 7,894.26.
