US stocks are easing on growth concerns due to trade tensions

UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — US stocks fell on Wednesday, with the Standard & Poor’s 500 and Nasdaq closing above a key support level with a small margin as investors took on safe government bonds, fearing the consequences of a prolonged US-China trade war on global growth.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was down 220.89 points, or 0.87 percent, at 25,126.88.

The S & P 500 shed 19.44 points, or 0.69 percent, to finish unofficially at 2,782.95.

The Nasdaq was down 60.04 points, or 0.79 percent, at 7,547.31.
