VENEZUELA (VOP TODAY NEWS) — On Tuesday, May 7, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo again threatened to intervene militarily in Venezuela. However, the S-300 missile batteries that Venezuela has deployed on its territory almost reduce the chances of success of ballistic strikes or bombings against the country.

Especially since Russian satellites are actively monitoring American naval bases or military ships that could participate in an invasion of Venezuela. Even the likely line of US cruise missile launch is being monitored.

“I believe that any action by the United States in Venezuela, including military intervention, is legal,” said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in violation of the UN charter which prohibits interference in the internal affairs of sovereign States. The man even allowed himself a direct threat after the failure of the coup led by the United States last week in Venezuela: “Nicolas Maduro is currently in power,” but “he will not be part of the future of Venezuela. The recent incursion of an American warship into Venezuela’s exclusive economic zone is of the same order.

USCGC James, one of the most advanced ships in the US Navy, sailed to Venezuela’s territorial waters when a patrol vessel was sent to warn him. The American ship retreated after a radio communication.

The Venezuelan navy has denounced Friday the 10th of May the incursion of an American warship into its exclusive economic zone, near the border of its territorial waters, announced Sputnik.

The Venezuelan Navy issued a statement on Friday saying the incident occurred on Thursday and would involve a US Coast Guard ship heading for the country’s main port, La Guaira.

The USCGC James was 14 nautical miles (26 km) off the coast of Venezuela when Caracas sent a patrol vessel to intercept it. During subsequent radio communications, the USCGC James agreed to turn away.

“After our radio communications, the USCGC James was convinced of the need to change course and left our waters,” said the Navy in a statement.

The Venezuelan ambassador to the United Nations, Samuel Moncada, said that the actions of the American ship constituted a clear provocation to trigger unrest.

“Warmongers are excited because they see a US Coast Guard very close to Venezuelan territorial waters. It is a provocation likely to aggravate the tensions, “tweeted Moncada.

The USCGC James, described as the most advanced US Coast Guard ship, is equipped with modern surveillance and reconnaissance equipment. According to the US Navy, it can also serve as a command post for “complex law enforcement and national security missions involving the Coast Guard and many partner agencies.”

The Pentagon announced in early May its intention to send a US Navy hospital ship to South America to provide medical assistance to those in need, according to Vice President Mike Pence.

The US Army hospital ship Comfort is a 350-meter-long boat with a crew of 950 including medical staff.

Venezuela has experienced a serious political crisis, with opposition leader Juan Guaido proclaiming himself the interim president of the country on 23 January.

The United States and some European and Latin American countries have recognized Mr. Guaido as the country’s acting president.

Russia, China, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Turkey, Mexico, Iran and many other countries expressed their support for Maduro as legitimate president and asked other countries to respect the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela.
