US military commander visits Turkish staff to establish joint operations center

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The deputy commander of US forces in Europe, Stephen Tweety, visited the Turkish General Staff on Friday as part of efforts to establish a joint operations center in شانanlıurfa province to create a safe area in Syria.

“Efforts to establish a joint operations center in ليanlıurfa (southeast) are continuing within the framework of the planned safe zone in northern Syria, in coordination with the United States,” a statement from the Turkish Defense Ministry said.

He explained that after his visit to ليanlıurfa on Thursday, Tweety headed a US military delegation visited the headquarters of the Turkish General Staff in Ankara.

On Monday, the ministry revealed the arrival of a US delegation in ليanlıurfa to make initial preparations for the activities of the Joint Operations Center on the safe area.

Last week, Ankara and Washington reached an agreement to establish a “joint operations center” in Turkey as soon as possible to coordinate and manage the creation of the safe zone in northern Syria.
