US military aircraft fly over Russia under “open skies”

UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — A US military aircraft carried out an agreed surveillance flight over Chukotka, eastern Russia, under the “Open Sky” agreement.

According to PlaneRadar, an air traffic control, a Boeing Boeing 74-70B Boeing OC-135B was observed flying over the cities of Anader and Bvik in the Russian autonomous district of Chukotka at an altitude of 11.2 km.

Boeing OS-135B, non-weapon-bearing and subject to international scrutiny with the participation of Russian experts, excluding the use of any equipment not provided for in the Convention.

On 11, 13 and 14 March, similar flights were carried out on Russian territory under this agreement and were carried out by the same aircraft .

The “open skies” agreement was signed between the OSCE member states in 1992 as part of measures to promote mutual trust in Europe after the Cold War.

Among the States members of the Convention are most countries of NATO, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Bosnia, Sweden and Finland.

Under the Convention, signatory States can carry out reconnaissance flights over the territory of other Member States, collect information on their forces in a reciprocal tradition and are governed by a set of standards and provisions.
