US charged Assange with another 17 counts

UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — US authorities brought new accusations to the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, in 17 episodes of violation of the law on espionage, Dow Jones reported.

According to the US Department of Justice, in the United States Assange is accused of conspiracy to hack. The warrant for the detention and extradition of the founder of WikiLeaks, the United States sent Britain in December last year.

In London, Assange on May 1 was sentenced to 11.5 months in prison for violating the conditions of release on bail.

Assange, convicted of sexual harassment and rape in Sweden in 2010, has been hiding in the Ecuadorian embassy since June 2012, fearing extradition to a Scandinavian country. On the morning of April 11, 2019, he was detained on orders from Sweden and the United States.

A court in London found him guilty of violating bail conditions. As the lawyer of the founder of WikiLeaks told RIA, a British court on May 2 gave the US 65 days to legally substantiate the request for the extradition of Assange.
