UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo accused Iran of attacking two tankers in the Gulf of Oman.

“The government of the United States believes that the Islamic Republic of Iran is responsible for the current attacks in the Gulf of Oman,” the head of the US Department of State said at a briefing on Thursday.

Pompeo stressed that the US will continue to use political and economic pressure on Iran.

As Pompeo noted, the United States is also ready to use force to protect its interests.

Recall that on June 13 Iranian media reported attacks on two vessels in the Gulf of Oman. The sounds of explosions were heard in the area of ​​their location. The sea harbors of Oman and Pakistan received distress signals from the crews.

Iranian emergency services rescued more than 40 sailors.
