UN urges parties to conflict in Syria to stop shelling civilians

The UN asks warring parties in Syria to immediately cease fire on residential areas and open corridors for the withdrawal of the wounded.

According to the representative of the organization, reports of the death of civilians come every day.

“The UN asks to immediately cease fire and open humanitarian corridors for the removal of wounded, sick, elderly citizens and children from areas where fighting is taking place,” Ali Al-Zaatari, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Syria.

The organization also asks to ensure the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the needy population.

Al-Zaatari noted that reports of the death of civilians come daily, especially from Damascus and the eastern suburbs of the capital.
