UN appointed new vote on resolution on investigation of chemical substances in Syria

The UN Security Council will hold a meeting on the investigation of chemical attacks.

As it was reported referring to a diplomatic source in the UN, the draft resolution proposed by Japan will be considered during the meeting.

It is noted that this draft resolution provides for the technical extension of the mandate of the joint UN-OPCW mission to investigate the use of chemical weapons in Syria (SMR).

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the call of the US side to the UN to extend the mandate of IDA is hypocritical.

16 November Russia imposed a veto on the US draft resolution on Syria.

The Russian draft resolution on Syria put up for voting in the council did not receive the required number of votes.
