UAE opens embassy in Damascus

SYRIA (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Lebanese MP Abdel Rahim Mourad said he had been officially informed by UAE officials that the UAE intends to restore diplomatic relations with Syria and open its embassy in Damascus.

“The UAE supports the return of Syria to the Arab League,” the Lebanese parliamentarian said during his participation in the “Game of Nations” program on Al-Mayadeen.

He also said he played a similar role as a mediator between Syria and Saudi Arabia. He also said that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said he had not reacted negatively to the idea of ​​a return to Syrian-Saudi relations, adding that this came during a meeting in Saudi Arabia earlier.

He pointed to the continued preparation for the meeting between the head of the National Security Office in Syria, Major General Ali Mamluk, and Saudi officials.
