UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The European Union is sticking to its position on the Golan Heights despite President Donald Trump’s comments on recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the territory it captured in the 1967 Middle East war, European Council President Donald Tusk said on Friday.

“The position of the European Union is well known and has not changed,” Tusk told a news conference, commenting on Trump’s comments. The European Union does not recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan.
