Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Baker Bondage said Monday that the United States is “playing with fire” by forming a border security force in Syria that includes Kurdish forces.
The Turkish comments come in response to the declaration of the International Alliance led by the United States for the formation of a force of 30 thousand fighters on the Syrian border and Kurds backbone.
The spokesman for the Turkish presidency, Ibrahim Kalan, confirmed immediately after the coalition announced this step, that his country “reserves the right to intervene against terrorist organizations in time, place and form that you determine.”
Ankara considers the Kurdish People’s Protection Units, the Syrian extension of the PKK, a terrorist organization.
Ankara saw in this step an attempt by “Washington to legitimize this terrorist organization and establish its permanent bases in the region” under the pretext of combating the organization calling for the terrorist.
