UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he had canceled additional US sanctions planned for North Korea.
“Today, the US Treasury has announced that additional large sanctions will be imposed in addition to the current sanctions against North Korea, but I have ordered today the abolition of these additional sanctions,” Trump said in a tweet on his official Twitter account.
The US president did not announce on Friday plans to expand US sanctions on Pyongyang.
The Treasury, on Thursday, imposed sanctions on two Chinese shipping companies, which Washington accuses of facilitating Pyongyang’s impunity.
The ministry also published a list of 67 ships, including two Russian ships, which the United States claims are violating the sanctions against North Korea.
