UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — US President Donald Trump called on China on Sunday to speed up a trade deal with his administration and not wait for an alternative to the presidential election in 2020, though he likes heavy fees.
The latest round of US-China trade negotiations this week in Washington failed to produce any results or move forward because Washington imposed a new package of taxes on Chinese goods.
“I think China has been hit hard in the recent negotiations, so they may be waiting for the next elections in 2020 to see if they will win a democratic victory,” Trump said through his Twitter account. “In this case they will continue to loot 500 billion dollars a year from United States, “in reference to the size of the US trade deficit with China’s people.
“The only problem is that they know that I will win (the best figures in the economy and employment in US history and much more). If the deal is concluded in my second term, it would be worse for them,” he said. Trump concluded that for the Chinese authorities, “it would be wise to act now,” although he “likes to collect heavy fees.”
Tension between Washington and Beijing escalated after Trump abruptly raised tariffs and taxes on Chinese exports worth $ 300 billion from 10 percent to 25 percent, putting the negotiations between the two countries at a standstill last week.
Trump claims to seek to reduce the trade deficit between the United States and China, with Chinese markets open wider to US goods, push Beijing to introduce legislation to stop illegal use of US technologies and infringe intellectual property.
