The US Department of State, has asked Congress for $ 18 billion to build the first phase of the barrier along the border with Mexico.
The Washington Post reported.
The newspaper wrote on the social networking site that Trump has asked the Congress to allocate this amount over the next 10 years to build a wall length of 316 miles, which was part of Trump pledges during his campaign during the US presidential election in 2016.
This amount is part of the total cost of the project, which may exceed $ 33 billion.
