Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Mike Pompeo believes that the tweets of Donald Trump about the nuclear button frightened the head of the DPRK Kim Jong-un.

According to him, as a result of US policy, the North Korean politician is now “backward.

“I can not say if Kim Jong-un read this tweet, because I can not prove it. But I’m sure he read it, “Pompeo said on CBS.

The head of the CIA expressed the opinion that such reports on Twitter help to better convey the US position, which consists in the non-acceptance of the nuclear status of the DPRK.

“I think in this message, as in the rest of the messages of the President, the State Department, you saw a clear policy (US). And it is very important that Kim Jong-un understands this clarity,” Pompeo added.

He recalled that the result of “clear US policy” was the fact that the DPRK agreed to negotiations with South Korea.

“He (Kim Jong-un – ed.) is looking for a foothold in order to go backward, which fully corresponds to his actions in the past. When he sees a threat, he tries to reconcile. You can be sure that this administration (the United States) will not fall into the same trap as the previous administrations got,” the CIA chief concluded.

As it was reported, the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-un in a New Year’s address to the people said that his nuclear button is constantly on his desk.

He also noted that “the US will not be able to start a war” against the DPRK.

The North Korean politician stressed that if the DPRK made a decision to inflict a potential nuclear strike, “the entire territory of the US will be in the zone of defeat.”

In turn, US President Donald Trump on his Twitter reminded his opponent that the US also has a nuclear button, but it is “more powerful and working.”
