A source at the Syrian Foreign Ministry said today that his government does not need US funds for reconstruction in the country.

The Syrian foreign statement comes in response to US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Wednesday that his country and its allies will not provide assistance for the reconstruction of areas under the Syrian government before the departure of Bashar al-Assad.

The Syrian source said: “The Syrian government does not need a dollar from Washington for reconstruction in Syria, because this dollar is stained with the blood of the Syrians, and is not invited to contribute to that because the policies of the US administration create only destruction and suffering.”

He also reiterated that the US military presence on Syrian territory is illegal and constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and an attack on national sovereignty, and that this presence was and continues to be aimed at protecting an advocacy organization established by the Obama administration.

He stressed that the internal affairs of any country in the world is an exclusive right of the people of this country and therefore no one has the right to express opinion, and therefore any political solution in Syria can only be in response to the aspirations of the Syrian people and not to external interests.

Tillerson also announced that his country intends to maintain its military and diplomatic presence in Syria until the defeat of the entire Deash organization, again Washington’s refusal to keep Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in power.
