UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Citing a military source, Russia Today announced on Friday (August 23rd) that the Syrian army had taken control of Kafr Zita locality in the northern suburbs of Hama.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), for its part, confirmed that the Syrian army had taken control of Kafr Zita and the heights east of the Turkish observation post in Morek.
Syrian sources have also reported the recapture of the localities of al-Sayad and Jabal al-Sayad south of the locality of Khan Sheikhoun after intense clashes with terrorists.
Meanwhile, sources said Jamil Saleh, a leader of Jail al-Izza, fled to the northern suburbs of Idlib with a large sum of money.
Now that the Syrian army is again dominating the heights east of the Turkish observation post at Morek, the fate of this checkpoint has become uncertain.
This takeover brings to 23 the number of localities recovered since August 5 by the Syrian army.
Simultaneously, Syrian fighter planes targeted terrorist positions in Latamneh in the southern suburbs of Idlib and Maara al-Noaman.
