Syria strongly condemns the Turkish aggression in the city of Afrin and calls upon the international community to immediately stop it. About this, as the SANA agency reports , said in a statement distributed on Saturday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RA.

“The Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns the brutal aggression of Turkey in the city of Afrin, which is an inalienable part of the territory of Syria,” it says. “This aggression represents another step in the series of Turkish encroachments on Syria’s sovereignty.”

The Office also denied the statements made earlier by the Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu that Ankara in writing informs Damascus about the progress of the operation in Africa. “We call on the international community to condemn this aggression and take the necessary measures for its immediate cessation,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces announced on Saturday the operation “Olive Branch” against the Kurdish forces from the forces of the People’s Self-Defense Forces and the Democratic Union Party in Afrin.

On the same day, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said that the military operation in Africa actually began. Ankara considers the SNA and the Democratic Republic of Syria to be Syrian offshoots of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, a terrorist organization recognized in Turkey.
