South Korean authorities detained a cargo vessel KOTI, which was under the flag of Panama, in connection with suspicions that it was delivering oil to the DPRK, South Korean TV channel YTN reported on Sunday.
Delayed yet on December 21, the ship is in the port of Pyeongtaek Tanjin (Gyeonggi Province), the television channel said. The majority of the crew are citizens of China and Myanmar. Other details of the authorities refused to report.
YTN recalls that this is the second vessel that caught sight of the South Korean government in connection with a possible violation of UN sanctions against the DPRK.
So, on Friday, authorities announced that they detained Lighthouse Winmore on November 24 under the flag of Hong Kong, which, according to Seoul, on October 16, being in international waters, reloaded a significant amount of oil to a North Korean ship.
The TV channel notes that resolution 2397 adopted by the UN Security Council, in particular, allows detaining and inspecting vessels suspected of carrying out prohibited activities from the DPRK.
