UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — While Venezuela is experiencing massive power outages in recent days, a fire broke out in an electrical substation in Bolivar State. On images broadcast online, we see an escape of a large column of black smoke.

A powerful fire broke out Saturday in the Sidor electrical substation in the state of Bolivar, reports the portal Nacional.

On the videos and photos published online, we see the fire and a column of black smoke escaping into the sky. The official authorities have still not commented on the situation. The station in question is located near Ciudad Bolivar, capital of the State.

As a reminder, massive power outages were recorded Thursday in 21 of the 23 states of Venezuela and Caracas. The power was cut in Caracas at 16:50 local time (2050 GMT), affecting all areas of the capital and services such as the metro and traffic lights. Thousands of people leaving work had to walk for miles to get home.

The telephone lines and Internet were also interrupted abruptly, as well as the distribution of water in the buildings, provided by electric pumps.

Given the extent of these disturbances, the country’s authorities have suspected sabotage of the main Venezuelan power station. This Saturday, new power cuts were recorded in different states of the country.
