Egyptian military spokesman Colonel Tamer Rifai announced on Thursday that an officer and five soldiers were killed when a bomb exploded in a military vehicle during a raid on a terrorist outpost in north Sinai.
The military spokesman said in a statement that “as a continuation of the efforts of the armed forces to combat the terrorist elements in northern Sinai, law enforcement forces of the second army field managed to eliminate 3 members of the Takfiri, with a quantity of weapons, ammunition and a number of improvised explosive devices, From inside. ”
He added that “an explosive device exploded in one of the vehicles of the armed forces during a raid on one of the terrorist strongholds, resulting in the death of an officer and five soldiers.”
The North Sinai province is the stronghold of terrorist groups in Egypt, especially the organization of (Sinai), the Egyptian arm of the Islamic State Organization (Daesh).
The organization has adopted a series of operations against security forces, which in turn are conducting ongoing campaigns to purge the country of terrorist groups.
