Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced on Friday that he will run for president in March.
“Let me announce my candidacy for the post of President of the Republic and regain your trust for a second term of four years,” Sissi told Egyptians at the end of the “Tale of the Country” conference, which began on Wednesday to review the achievements of the first term.
He called on the people to vote in the elections, and said, “If you appreciate what you have done, if I have any risk, if you want to return the favor, go down to the box, drop all of you, and choose who you like.”
The presidential election is scheduled to take place over three days from March 26.
