The Russian Health Ministry said that 40 people were injured in the explosions that took place in the ammunition depot near the city of “Achinsk” in the region “Krasnoyarsk” east of Siberia.
The ministry said in a statement that the wounded were undergoing treatment.
On August 6, 12 people were injured and another was missing in massive explosions at a Russian army ammunition depot in Siberia.
According to the agency “Associated Press” US, the Russian authorities announced the evacuation of 16 thousand and 500 people from the region after fires broke out, in an ammunition depot in the region.
The fires led to powerful explosions that lasted about 16 hours, before the Ministry of Defense announced extinguishing them after the intervention of 10 transport planes and eight helicopters.
The cause of the fire, the latest in a series of similar incidents in Russian arms depots in recent years, has not been announced.
