Senate’s GOP tax reform bill seeks repeal of Obamacare individual mandate

Senate’s GOP tax reform bill seeks repeal of Obamacare individual mandate, CNBC reports.

Tom Cotton a senator from Arkansas, said on Tuesday that the Senate Finance Committee accepted his suggestion to scrap the obligation of healthcare insurance as a part of the new tax reform bill.

“I’m pleased the Senate Finance Committee has accepted my proposal to repeal the Obamacare individual mandate in the tax legislation,” Cotton stated.

Earlier, media reported the Senate Republicans are planning to remove the Obamacare individual mandate in the next version of their tax bill.

The individual mandate means that Americans who do not have some form of health insurance must pay an extra 2.6% in income taxes.
