UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Boko Haram guerrillas killed at least 23 Chadian soldiers early on Friday in an attack that appeared to have killed the largest number of militants killed in Chad, security sources said on Friday.

Boko Haram has been fighting for 10 years to establish an Islamic caliphate in northeastern Nigeria and has carried out frequent attacks across Hadjouj in Chad, Niger and Cameroon.

Two sources said the attack on Friday took place in the town of Dangdala near the banks of Lake Chad.

One said the attackers crossed the border from Niger probably before they attacked Chad’s soldiers around 1:25 am (0025 GMT).
