Specialists from the University of Edinburgh suggested that life on Earth could be carried by cosmic dust flows, according to the resource Phys.org.
Scientists believe that strong streams of cosmic dust, moving at a speed of up to 70 kilometers per second, can carry the smallest living organisms. In particular, experts say that the cosmic dust that constantly “bombards” the Earth’s atmosphere can knock out small particles that are 150 kilometers or more above the surface beyond the limits of terrestrial gravity, and they will eventually reach other planets.
Researchers argue that a similar situation can occur on other planets, as a result of which living organisms can get from one celestial body to another.
At the same time, experts note that some living things, in particular bacteria, plants, slow-moving (microscopic invertebrates), are able to survive in the conditions of an open space, which only confirms the experts’ guesses.
Previously, scientists believed that the only “bearer” of living beings from one planet to another are asteroids.
