Tuesday on January 16, Saudi Arabia forces intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired by Houthi militias targeting the southern province of Jazan, reports Al-Arabiya.
The newspaper “preceded” citing informed sources said that the missile was a type of “Scud” was addressed with a system of air defense Patriot.
In turn, the Houthi missile force confirmed the launch of a short-range ballistic missile on the Kingdom, explaining that it targeted the Jazan regional airport.
Saudi Arabia is engaged in a major military campaign in Yemen, which has been in constant conflict since September 2014 between the forces of Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, supported since March of 2015 by the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia, and the Houthi forces, which until recently had been allied with supporters of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, who was killed earlier in December by an armed conflict between the two partners in the capital, Sanaa.
The Arab Air Force carries out continuous air strikes on sites throughout Yemen, which it says are military and belonging to the Houthi “Ansar Allah” group, aimed at “restoring legitimacy” to the Houthi-controlled Sana’a, who occasionally fire rockets at the positions of the Saudi army inside Kingdom territory.
