Saudi Arabia has arrested 11 princes who arrived in one of the royal palaces to protest against the authorities’ measures against the aristocracy of the kingdom, the Associated Press reported with reference to local media.

The princes were taken into custody by officers of the National Guard after they refused to retire from the palace, AP specifies. The names of those arrested were not disclosed.

According to the agency, the princes demanded from the authorities to resume payments of accounts to members of the royal family for water and electricity. Also, the princes wanted the authorities to pay compensation for the death sentence passed on to one of their relatives.

According to local media reports, the princes were taken to the Al-Khair prison, located south of Riyadh, where they contain members of illegal armed groups and terrorists of the Al-Qaeda group.

As reported, last November in Saudi Arabia, 11 princes and 38 former and current high-ranking officials were detained.

All detainees were charged with corruption, misrepresentation and money laundering. According to the media, most of the high-ranking officials accused of corruption later agreed to pay about $100 billion to the treasury to settle the claims.
