The Russian Su-30 fighter carried out an unsafe interception of a US patrol P-8 Poseidon over the Black Sea last Saturday, CNN reported, citing US Defense Department spokesman Michel Baldanza.
Interception lasted about 24 minutes.
“The American airplane operated in the international airspace and did nothing to provoke the crew of the Russian fighter,” the Pentagon spokesman said.
She clarified that the US side considers the interception unsafe, since the Russian Su-30 flew directly in front of the P-8 Poseidon, as a result of which the latter had to make a sharp maneuver, leading to “very strong turbulence.”
According to officials, this could lead to serious injuries to the crew members of both aircraft.
Earlier it was reported that the vessel “Roscosmos” will track American missiles.
After the modernization, Marshal Krylov will be able to control launches from any part of the world.
