UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Navalny was taken to hospital on Sunday for being too sensitive, Russian opposition spokeswoman Alexei Navalny, who is serving a prison sentence for calling for unauthorized protests, said.
Navalni entered prison this week for a 30-day jail sentence for calling for an unauthorized march to protest the removal of a group of opposition candidates from local elections later this year.
Police arrested more than 1,000 people in the Russian capital during Saturday’s march in one of the biggest crackdowns on the opposition in recent years.
“She was taken to hospital on Sunday morning with a severe facial swelling and redness of the skin,” Navalny spokeswoman Kira Yarmesh said on her Twitter account.
She said the cause of the allergic reaction to Nadalini was unknown, noting that he had not been exposed to such a thing in the past.
The Russian Interior Ministry or the hospital, where Navalini’s spokeswoman said he was being transferred, was not immediately available for comment.
Top Russian opposition leader Navalny has spent several prison sentences in recent years for anti-government demonstrations.
Last year, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that Russia’s arrest and detention of Nafalini in 2012 and 2014 was politically motivated and a violation of his human rights, a judgment that Moscow had questioned.
