RUSSIA/SYRIA (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has asked the Syrian army to stop its operation in Idlib.

Turkey on Friday called on Russia to stop the Syrian army’s attacks on Idlib province, accusing Damascus of seeking to extend control over the south of the province in violation of the Astana agreement.

“We expect from Russia effective and decisive measures to ensure that regime forces stop their attacks in southern Idlib and immediately withdraw to the borders, in accordance with the Astana process,” said the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hulusi Akar Defense, who was speaking during a trip near the Syrian border with senior military officials.

Since the end of April, the Syrian army and its Russian ally have intensified their bombings against southern Idlib province and northern neighboring Hama region, territories controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and other terrorist groups.

This comes as the Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN objected to the statement of the Security Council that falsified the situation in Idlib. Russia opposed any Security Council common position in an in camera meeting on the situation in Idlib.

Russia also recalled that terrorists linked to the al-Nusra Front were still active in Idlib.

The night will be long for the terrorists of the Party of Turkestan (TIP) and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, while the Russian Air Force has launched a new series of air strikes on the stronghold of Kabani, north from Latakia.

According to Al-Masdar News, the Russian Air Force launched a series of air strikes on Friday night on Kobane and its environs, causing several powerful explosions that can be heard in the suburbs northeast of the northern governorate. Latakia.

Russian air strikes on Kobanî were followed by a plethora of missiles launched by the 4th Syrian army division with its launcher Golan IRAM-1000.

With their recent advance in Zuwayqat Mountains, the 4th Syrian army division is now in a position to launch its new offensive to capture the key town of Ayn al-Arab.

Previously, the forces of the Syrian Republican Guard had attempted to capture Kobane; however, they could not penetrate the Hayat Tahrir al-Cham lines south of the city.
