Rouhani: Iranian tanker’s detention is illegal and will be a burden on Britain

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (VOP TODAY NEWS) — Britain’s seizure of an Iranian oil tanker off Gibraltar is illegal and will be disastrous, Iran’s official website quoted President Hassan Rouhani as saying on Sunday.

British forces detained the Iranian oil tanker near Gibraltar in early July, accusing it of violating sanctions against Syria. On July 19, Iranian special forces detained a British flag carrier in the Strait of Hormuz, the most important waterway for oil shipments in the world.
