Putin told Abbas about supporting the resumption of dialogue between Palestine and Israel

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with the leader of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, the press service of the Kremlin.

“Vladimir Putin outlined Russia’s principled position in support of the immediate resumption of direct Palestinian-Israeli negotiations on all controversial issues, including the status of Jerusalem, and reaching long-term fair solutions that meet the interests of both sides,” the report said.

The leaders also noted the importance of the agreement signed in Cairo in October between the Fatah and Hamas movements aimed at strengthening inter-Palestinian unity.

 

Earlier, US President Donald Trump also had a telephone conversation with Abbas, during which he announced his intention to transfer the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

 

It was reported that the White House could recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Tuesday, December 5.
