UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The powerful Eberhard cyclone moves across Germany from the Belgian border to the east, gusts of wind reach 120 kilometers per hour, according to the German Meteorological Service.
“The danger of powerful storm and hurricane gusts of wind (100-120 kilometers per hour),” said in a message on Twitter.
As follows from the attached map, the hurricane first hit the regions of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate, then move through Hesse, Thuringia and northern Bavaria and go to the Czech Republic. In the south of Hesse is the country’s largest airport – Frankfurt am Main.
It also follows from the map that the power of the cyclone is up to a maximum of 12 on the Beaufort scale. Such a wind is capable of causing significant damage. Meteorologists also recommend avoiding open spaces.
The local newspaper Rheinische Post publishes photographs of crumpled roofs and tree-torn trees.
Earlier it was reported that in North Rhine – Westphalia due to a hurricane stopped rail service. According to the Rheinische Post, several highways are also blocked, mainly due to trees and other objects falling on the road.
