Pope Francis met on Tuesday with people who were victims of sexual violence by Chilean Catholic priests.
“The meeting was held in a completely private form, there was no one else – only the pope and the victims (of violence),” the Excelsior Mexican portal quotes the representative of the Vatican Greg Burke.
Previously, the Pope met with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet. At the meeting, he publicly apologized for the pedophile priests in the South American country.
“I can not but express my pain and shame, which I feel in the face of irretrievable harm to children by the servants of the church,” the pontiff said.
