UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The Pentagon plans to supply more than 10,000 guided missiles to counter Russia and China.
The Pentagon has proposed that the budget proposal for fiscal year 2020 be included in the budget to allow 1,013 ground-to-ground missiles to be used for rocket launchers, according to Task and Purpose.
It was confirmed that this would increase by 26 percent from the level of 2019, when the Pentagon asked for 8101 of these missiles, which is 47% more than the level of fiscal year 2018, when the ministry requested 6936 missiles.
The site pointed out that this amount of guided missiles, will be used “to destroy field artillery and air defense systems at the opponent” and will cost about 1.4 billion dollars.
The increase in the cost of renewing the missile arsenal “is linked to the Pentagon’s desire to reorient US missile launchers to the superpowers, especially Russia and China, after the relative victory was achieved in Iraq and Syria,” the website said.
In reviewing the defense budget for the next fiscal year, which was published early March, the Pentagon noted that the priority in modernizing the US military would be “to increase the range of shooting, the destructive impact of field artillery and the development of missile artillery capabilities to achieve excellence at all levels.”
