UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The Palestinian Health Ministry announced Sunday morning that a 22-year-old Palestinian was shot dead by an Israeli policeman near the city of Jericho.

An Israeli policeman opened fire on the Palestinian man for allegedly trying to carry out an operation in the Jordan Valley after breaking through a checkpoint.

The Israeli police said that a speeding car headed towards a policeman without any interruption, forcing the policeman to shoot and stop the car, where the driver was seriously injured and announced his death at the scene.

The police statement claimed that stolen documents and burglars were found in the car and that two other people fled the car into the open area.
