Palestine: Al-Aqsa is not subject to the courts of Israel

UNITED STATES (VOP TODAY NEWS) — The Supreme Islamic Committee of the Awqaf Department in Jerusalem and the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is not subject to Israeli court decisions.

This came after the issuance of a precautionary decision by the Israeli Magistrate’s Court (West Jerusalem) on Sunday, extending the closure of the chapel “Bab al-Rahma” in the Al-Aqsa Mosque for 60 days.

The website of the “Yediot Ahronot” Hebrew, that a closed session was held this morning in the Magistrates Court, during which the Court responded to the request of the Israeli prosecution to extend the closure of the building “Bab al-Rahma.”

The site added that it allowed the publication of the court’s brief decision only to extend the closure for two months.

In response to the decision, the Waqf Department said in a brief statement that it had not received any decision or notification of the closure of the “Bab al-Rahma” building, and that it had learned from the Hebrew media only.

The head of the Supreme Islamic Committee, Sheikh Akrama Sabri, called the decision “falsehood” and told Anatolia: “We consider the Al-Aqsa Mosque to be under Israeli courts and not subject to any of these courts.”

He added: “We will not abide by any Israeli decision relating to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as we carry the Israeli government as a result of escalation and tension.”

For its part, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants considered the decision to be an attempt to consolidate Israeli control not only on the “Gate of Mercy” but on the entire Al Aqsa Mosque and its oases.

In a statement, the threats to the Al-Aqsa Mosque were intended to perpetuate its temporal division and to begin implementing colonial measures that would divide it into space.

The ministry also stressed that the refusal of the Islamic Waqf to deal with the courts of the occupation and to comply with their calls and decisions and arbitrary declarations brave position, and that the door of mercy and prayer will remain open and is not the subject of discussion by the courts of occupation.

According to international law, Jordan is the last local authority to oversee these holy sites before being occupied by Israel.
