Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that the Turkish military operations on the city of Afrin are “aggressive aggression,” and that it can not be separated from Ankara’s policy towards Damascus since the first day of the Syrian crisis.
During his meeting with Kamal Kharrazi, head of the Strategic Council for Foreign Relations in Iran and his accompanying delegation, he noted that “Turkish policy was based mainly on supporting terrorism and armed organizations of different names.”
The Syrian president stressed that “the victory over terrorism in Syria and Iraq and the steadfastness of Iran in the nuclear file foiled the planned decree for the region, which aims to break up its states and violation of sovereignty and control of its independent decision.”
Assad stressed that Iran’s support for his country in all fields, especially the fight against terrorism , contributed to the successes achieved by the Syrian Arab Army against the terrorists.
In turn, Kharrazi congratulated President Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian people on the successive victories against the terrorists, the last of which was the restoration of Abu Dahour airport, expressing confidence that “these victories will culminate in more achievements, both military and political.”
The Iranian official stressed the importance of continuing to exchange views and close cooperation between Damascus and Tehran to confront foreign conspiracies, saying that Syrian-Iranian harmony played a positive role in this direction.
